Paul Pogba cancelled out Simone Zaza's opener but the reigning Italian champions were unable to rack up a seventh successive win
Juventus dropped points for the first time in Serie A this season as they were held to a shock 1-1 draw at struggling Sassuolo on Saturday night.
Massimiliano Allegri's men claimed a sixth win from as many games prior to the international break when beating Roma 3-2, but failed to find top gear at Stadio Citta del Tricolore.
Sassuolo claimed an unlikely lead after 13 minutes through Simone Zaza, a player previously co-owned by Juventus, only for the visitors to respond swiftly courtesy of a stunning Paul Pogba strike.
However, Pogba's goal failed to spark the champions into action as they found themselves continually frustrated by a hard-working Sassuolo outfit, who climb off the foot of the table.
Roma's 3-0 win over Chievo earlier on Saturday ensures Juve's lead at the summit has been cut to one point, with Allegri likely to view this game as a missed opportunity.
Juve had won their previous 13 league matches, their last dropped points coming in a 2-0 loss at Napoli on March 30.
Sassuolo, still to win a league game this season, showed no sign of being overawed, despite some early Juventus pressure.
Fernando Llorente was first to test Andrea Consigli after 12 minutes, forcing a smart save following a teasing cross from the right, and Roberto Pereyra sent the rebound over the bar.

The club captain scored twice, while Xabi Alonso opened his goalscoring account for the club in a comfortable win at the Allianz Arena
Philipp Lahm scored twice and Xabi Alonso struck his first goal for the club as Bayern Munich thumped Werder Bremen 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Werder travelled to Bavaria having conceded 18 goals in their last three league meetings with Bayern - and the champions were in no mood to forgive them further embarrassment on this occasion with a devastating first-half display.
Goals from Lahm (2), Xabi Alonso, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze (2) secured the points for Pep Guardiola's side, with the Bayern boss having the luxury of taking off several of his star men early ahead of Tuesday's Champions League trip to Roma.
Even without Robert Lewandowski - left on the bench after picking up a heavy knock while on international duty with Poland - Bayern had an overwhelming amount of attacking quality for their opponents to handle and continued their unbeaten start to the season in ominous fashion.
Werder, by contrast, remain rooted to the foot of the table awaiting their first victory of the campaign.
The gulf between the teams in this top-versus-bottom clash was evident from the off - the pattern of the game set as the visitors chased shadows while Bayern zipped the ball around at dizzying speed.
Despite their overwhelming possession, the champions were made to wait until the 20th minute before taking the lead through Lahm.
With new signing Jairo making his debut, Mainz made the confident start justified by their unbeaten record. Jonas Hofmann tested Marwin Hitz in the Augsburg goal, while Shinji Okazakis movement up front left the visitors defence chasing shadows. It took 20 minutes for the dominant hosts to open the scoring, and it inevitably came from the inspired Hofmann. His third goal of the season was a thing of beauty, twisting and turning before beating Hitz at his near post.
The hosts doubled their lead just three minutes later, debutant Jairo taking advantage of some slack Augsburg defending to place his confident finish into the bottom corner. Augsburg, stung, looked to force a way back through Halil Altintop and Raul Bobadilla, yet the well-organised Mainz defence was foiling their best efforts. The closest they came was five minutes before the break, as Bobadillas free-kick drew a smart save from Loris Karius.
Too little, too late
Karius was called into action early in the second-half, as Augsburg, and particularly Bobadilla began peppering his goal with shots. One effort from Ragnar Klavan drew a superb save from the young custodian, while the entry of Abdul Rahman Baba at left-back gave Augsburg more pace and width.
Freiburg are still waiting for their first Bundesliga win of the season after they fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to high-flying Wolfsburg.
An early Daniel Caligiuri goal took the wind from Freiburg's sails and his second goal of the game in the 66th minute left Christian Streich's men staring their third defeat of the season in the face.
Sebastian Kerk grabbed a consolation for the hosts in time added on, but it was too little too late as they remained third from bottom with just five points from eight matches.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea - Oscar and Cesc Fabregas scored the decisive goals as Palace were beaten
Chelsea pair Oscar and Cesc Fabregas scored the decisive goals as Palace were beaten by Jose Mourinho's league leaders at Selhurst.
After the Brazilian had netted a superb free-kick early on, both sides went into the break with just 10 men after Cesar Azpilicueta and Damien Delaney were dismissed within three minutes of each other, but soon after the restart Fabregas capped a fine team goal to seal the victory, although Fraizer Campbell netted a consolation for the hosts with a minute to play .
eil Warnock's started really brightly and created a couple of dangerous moments within the first two minutes. Mumbai needed to rebound and rebound in a big way after their heavy defeat against Atletico de Kokata to open the tournament. Personnel changes were needed and rightly effected by coach Peter Reid and boy did they pay off! The first ‘Maha Derby’ was a no-contest as Mumbai pummelled Pune into submission in a 5-0 win at home at the D.Y. Patil Stadium.
It was obvious to everyone watching that Brazilian Andre Moritz made a significant difference after coming on as a substitute in the first game. His reward for his sprightly performance was a start in the ‘Maha Derby’. Tiago Ribeiro didn’t make way, rather found himself at left-back where he slotted in very well indeed and Subhash Singh started in place of the disappointing Diego Nadaya. Nadong Bhutia took the place of injured India international Syed Rahim Nabi.
Pune too made four changes Dudu coming in for Mathani, Wadoo in for Kwang Il Park, Gonzalez on for Gurung and Pritam Kotal on for Magliocchetti.

WWE News & Notes 2014: Will WrestleMania 31 Feature The Rock, Hulk Hogan, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin & Sting?
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin has dispelled rumors that he is returning to the ring at WrestleMania 31,saying on "The Steve Austin Show" podcast that he has no desire to take the bumps that go with competing in the squared circle. Austin went on to say that he does not want to train for one more fight and that his "return" involved going back to working out at Gold's Gym. "The Rattlesnake" stated that while he could still "whoop" WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in a bout, he has a pending project in February that would prevent him from competing at WrestleMania 31.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's name is also being linked to WrestleMania 31 after the promo he did with Triple H during the 15th anniversary show of Friday Night SmackDown. While The Rock and Triple H teased one more match against one another, The Rock versus Lesnar may still be in play, especially with Roman Reigns injured. Another match-up that may potentially occur is The Rock against Rusev, who he interrupted during his surprise visit on Monday Night Raw.
Despite the rampant dirt sheet rumors, The Rock did tell TMZ last Friday that he did not think he would be returning to the ring saying he didn't want to get hit in the mouth. The Rock also has various movie projects in the works, including "Shazam," in which he will play the "Black Adam" character, and the new "Baywatch" movie, which may prevent him from competing at WrestleMania 31 altogether.
Hulk Hogan is also rumored to be looking to compete atWrestleMania 31. Although Hogan has been very vocal about getting into the ring one last time, preferably against John Cena, he would still have to pass a physical before he can climb back into the ring. Sting, who has a merchandise deal with the company including being a part of the latest WWE 2K15 video game, is still in play, having expressed a desire to go one-on-one against either The Undertaker or Triple H. Despite all the chatter, Sting has yet to sign a contract to compete in an WWE at the moment.
Bray Wyatt has also expressed an interest in going up against "The Deadman," in a recent interview with the Miami Herald, should he come back for one more match at "the Grandest Stage of Them All."
"Bray Wyatt versus The Undertaker would be the greatest I could accomplish," said Wyatt. "Just being there side-by-side with him. I get the comparisons, but we are also very different. He is 'The Deadman.' He will always be 'The Deadman,' and I'm Bray Wyatt. When or if, or when we shall meet, it will be every bit of everything I thought it would be."
Wyatt seems to be moving away from teaming up with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, having recently "set them free" and may be paired up with former NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension, who are due to get the call up soon to the main roster.
From Paris to Roma: Rabiot is a great talent but he is no Paul Pogba
The young midfielder is on the verge of joining Roma, but he has already caused huge controversy in his short career after being frozen out at PSG
By Robin BairnerFollowing a drawn-out saga that has lasted since the summer, Adrien Rabiot’s move from Paris Saint-Germain to Roma seems a formality. The only question is whether the transfer goes through in January or July.
Rabiot, out of contract next summer, will go to the Stadio Olimpico as one of French football’s great hopes - yet he will depart his home nation with his reputation tarnished and with much to prove.
For a 19-year-old, he is a remarkably complete player, yet his ability is matched by his ego. It is this attitude that has left him a virtual outcast at PSG, where he has not even appeared in the first-team squad this season.
The situation is reminiscent of Paul Pogba’s at Manchester United.
“Manchester United is a big club but you have to think about yourself,” Pogba told the BBC in June, claiming he was shown a lack of “respect” by former boss Alex Ferguson.
“You have to play. The coach told me there would be space to play, but I wasn't playing.”
When the Juventus star levered his way out of Old Trafford, he was but a precocious teenager with seven senior appearances under his belt.
Rabiot is also 19 and appears to share similar gripes to his fellow central midfielder.
Back to 18th October 1997: Cadamarteri shines on Merseyside derby debut
Teenager Danny Cadamarteri scored one goal and made the other in his first Merseyside derby to give Everton victory over rivals Liverpool.
Cadamarteri, in his first match since turning 18, took his goals total to four from six Barclays Premier League appearances since the start of the season and helped the Toffees climb out of the relegation zone.
The victory followed a 4-1 midweek defeat in the League Cup at Coventry City and manager Howard Kendall said: "This was a totally different performance from the one at Coventry.
"It's changed the mood in the club, was great for the fans and gives us something to build on."
Liverpool had the best of the early chances with two created by Steve McManaman. The winger first crossed for Robbie Fowler, who scuffed his shot, and then for Karlheinz Riedle, who also missed the opportunity.
At the other end Cadamarteri fired wide before Liverpool goalkeeper David James stopped a shot from John Oster and the follow-up from Duncan Ferguson.
Everton took the lead shortly before half-time when Andy Hinchcliffe swung over a corner and Cadamarteri challenged James for the ball, which hit the goalkeeper's hand and deflected into the net off helpless defender Neil Ruddock for an own goal.
Craig Short went close to doubling their lead after the break but James caught his header before Toffees 'keeper Neville Southall dived at the feet of McManaman.
Everton looked the more dangerous in the closing stages and, after Oster had come close, Cadamarteri confirmed the victory when he robbed Bjorn Kvarme of the ball and ran on to slot it past James.
Despite his scoring run and having a continued spell in the team, Cadamarteri did not score again for the rest of the season as Everton survived relegation on goal difference.
Liverpool finished third, 12 points behind second-placed Manchester United and 13 back from Barclays Premier League champions Arsenal.
Bayern Munich - Werder Bremen Preview: Unbeaten Bavarians out to maintain momentum
Pep Guardiola's men scored 14 goals without reply in seven matches before the international break, so they will be confident of seeing off their struggling visitors
?Bayern Munich will look to extend their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season on Saturday when they entertain lowly Werder Bremen.
Pep Guardiola's side have only dropped points in two of their opening seven matches and boast a 100 per cent record at the Allianz Arena.
Prior to the international break Bayern scored 14 goals without reply in seven matches in all competitions, an ominous sign to a winless Werder side who have yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
And Xabi Alonso believes the champions are only going to get better as the campaign goes on, with rock-bottom Werder the next target in their sights as they look to stretch their four-point lead at the top of the table.
When you play for Bayern, you fight for everything, the Spain international said. Until now we have done it well.
But we want to keep improving and, when it comes to the title, be at our peak in the second half [of the season].
The only chink in Bayern's armour that Werder may be able to exploit is the form of their Germany internationals, who have failed to win either of their games during the recent Euro 2016 qualifiers.
NorthEast United 0-2 Atletico de Kolkata: Atletico cement their place at the top
The Kolkata outfit continued their good form in Guwahati as they registered yet another victory in the ISL…
Ten men Atletico de Kolkata registered a 2-0 victory over NorthEast United FC with Fikru Tefera and Jakub Podany on the score sheet in an Indian Super League (ISL) tie at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati. Borja Fernandez was given his marching orders in the 84th minute after picking his second booking of the tie.
The Kolkata outfit top ISL standings with six points from their two outings.
Ricki Herbert chose to make four changes from the side that beat Kerala Blasters. Surprisingly David Ngaihte made way for Boithang Haokip while Miguel Garcia and Robin Gurung were not part of the squad.
Antonio Lopez Habas stuck to his guns as he named an unchanged side from the one that thumped Mumbai City 3-0. The wily Luis Garcia captained the side, playing just behind Fikru Tefera and Baljit Singh Sahni upfront.
The Kolkata outfit started the better of the two as Borja Fernandez tried to pull off another blinder in the 8th minut. However, his speculative effort went straight to Alexandre Tzorvas in goal.
It took Habas’s men only fifteen minutes to open the scoring as Fikru Tefera made it two out of two. Luis Garcia showed great vision as he picked the ball off a misbalanced Milan Singh and then scooped a pass towards Fikru unlocking the entire defense.

Kramer to miss Ireland clash
Kramer to miss Ireland clash Gelsenkirchen - Borussia Mnchengladbach midfielder Christoph Kramer will play no part in Germany's UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying match with the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday after pulling out of the squad due to illness.
The 23-year-old is suffering with gastric flu and has been sent home to rest ahead of the Foals' Matchday 8 encounter away to Hannover 96 Saturday afternoon.
Kramer only made his senior debut for Germany in May this year but was nevertheless selected in Joachim Lw's 23-man ensemble for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, even starting the final against Argentina in July only to be substituted off in the first half with concussion.
Lw confirmed the news of Kramer's withdrawl on Monday afternoon at the side's pre-match press conference:
Defences may dominate in Delhi Dynamos vs Pune City clash in capital city
After Kolkata and Guwahati, it is Delhi’s turn to welcome the Hero Indian Super League. An exciting fixture is on the cards, as both Delhi Dynamos FC and FC Pune City have displayed an attacking brand of football during their preseason campaigns. Delhi scored a remarkable 19 goals in three games, while Pune were only slightly less prolific with 14 goals in four matches. There is a chance though that this will be a cagier affair, with both teams also boasting strong defences, and keen to not begin on a losing note. But fans will be hoping to see some goals, and marquee players Alessandro Del Piero (Delhi) and David Trezeguet (Pune) besides others, are capable of making a decisive impact on the game.

Koke strike powers NorthEast United FC to victory
The Spanish midfielder took advantage of a poor clearance by the Kerala defenders, rushing onto the ball and putting it past former England goalkeeper David James in the far left corner with a sweetly timed half-volleyed effort. This is the third goal in the tournament scored by a Spanish player. Kerala Blasters came out with intent as they looked to take control of the match at the start. Joan Capdevila gave away a free kick as early as the first minute. The men in yellow pushed forward positively and had the lion's share of the possession. Kerala even had the ball in the back of the net in the 16th minute, but Iain Hume was denied by the offside flag. NorthEast United FC’s former Greece international goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas stood as firm as a rock in front of his goal and refused to be beaten. He was deservingly voted ‘Hero of the match’. He did commit a mistake with a scuffed goal kick and was also lucky that a low shot by substitute Michael Chopra was saved by his defender on the goal line. The match didn’t see too much happening in the first half, apart from a few tame attempts from both sides. Durga Boro got everyone out of their seats with an incredible long range effort, only to be denied by James with a fantastic save.

VISAKHAPATNAM/HYDERABAD: After ducking the devastating effects of the 2004 tsunami and the 1977 cyclone, the "City of Destiny" sadly had its date with disaster on Sunday when a very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud tore through the city, unleashing widespread destruction and bringing the otherwise bustling city of nearly 20 lakh people to a grinding halt.
The cyclone, that made landfall in the Port City around noon, sent hoardings and tin roofs flying like saucers, shattered windows leaving the streets littered with glass shreds, toppled over statues of leaders in many places as well as landmarks like the replica of the navy airplane on RK Beach. Atletico de Kolkata record comfortable win in ISL opener
Atletico de Kolkata started off their campaign in the Hero Indian Super League with a bang by trouncing Mumbai City FC by a 3-0 margin at the Salt Lake Stadium here tonight. Ethiopian striker Fikru Teferra Lemessa (27’), Borja Fernández (69’) and substitute Arnal Llibert in stoppage time got onto the scoresheet for the winners.
The contest got off to a heated start with tackles coming in hard and fast, Mumbai City FC skipper Syed Rahim Nabi being booked for a malicious tackle on Biswajit Saha in the 2nd minute. The match continued in the same vein for Mumbai’s nervous defence, with keeper Subrata Paul being called on a couple of occasions to deny the home side the chance to be the first team on the score-sheet. But Mumbai couldn’t keep Kolkata out for long, as Lemessa latched onto a well-timed through-ball, just minutes after receiving a yellow-card from referee Christopher Penso, and cheekily chipped it over the onrushing Paul from outside the box, to go down in the history books as the first goal-scorer in the ISL.
